Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 with Inpress Control

We pride ourselves on being the most technologically advanced wet-glue label printer in the UK and we’d like to be the most economically successful in the world of industrial printing. To achieve this we require the very latest technology.  Our new Speedmaster XL 106 is literally hot off the press – it was installed over the Christmas break and is now up and running. This machine was a must for our business as we expand and the amount of labels and packaging we produce increases because it provides us with maximum productivity combined with top efficiency.
The Speedmaster XL 106 has the highest level of automation on the market which is right up our street. Intelligent automation, intuitive operation, top quality print, maximum productivity and cost effectiveness let us provide our customers with the excellent service they deserve. Plus it means we are operating at peak performance as this press delivers 18000 sheets per hour in straight printing.

In the printing industry you can’t stand still, the technology is evolving all the time and we’re looking for perfection on the run,” says our MD, Rod Fisher. “On older presses you can see fluctuations in quality and I have certainly seen variations across labels on supermarket shelves. We want perfect and predictable results. Customers are undoubtedly benefitting from superior quality as a result of our continued investment in technology.

Aside from the persuasive quality improvements, the new machine will also provide other cost reductions – it will double our production capacity, significantly reduce our power bills and cut make-ready times.  All these make us a leaner, greener and more efficient company.

Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102-7+L with Inpress Control

Enjoying notoriety for being the most advanced label printer in the UK and being able to produce difficult and unusual pieces of print on plastic, we also like to be first to market with cutting-edge technology. Our Heidelberg Speedmaster CX102-7+L was the first machine of its type in the UK’s label industry with Inpress Control and Cutstar technology. It has doubled the company’s capacity due to its increased speed and reduced make-ready times. This machine was an investment for the firm of £3m and it will be 80% used for labels work but will also handle our plastics printing, primarily POS and promotional work. It runs at 16,500 sph on a broad spectrum of substrates from light-weight paper, all plastics and bending resistant cardboard. The average run for our labels business is 20,000 sheets, much of the work for the beer, water and food industries. The plastics orders tend to be shorter, averaging about 1,000 sheets. The wide range of configurations and equipment makes it possible to adapt the Speedmaster CX 102 to each job’s precise requirements. Previously we used B2 technology for the plastics work and B1 for the labels so the new press has opened new markets for us in labels and plastics.

Digital

Our latest investment is the Truepress Jet W3200UV High-Speed UV Flatbed Inkjet Printer – a wide-format UV inkjet digital printing system suitable for the production of backlit graphics to wide-format posters, lenticulars, POP displays, commercial furniture and construction signage which offers our customers superb flexibility. Drop location accuracy, consistency and drop size are almost infinitely controllable and this printer achieves perfect inline registration of up to eight independent image layers in a single pass plus unequalled ink density and dramatic high-impact detail on virtually any substrate. The printer is equipped with six colours (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan and light magenta) plus two white ink channels.

ColorPainter M-64s – fast, precise and reliable, the large-format ColorPainter M-64s meets our customers’ growing demand for high quality and productivity in the outdoor signage and indoor graphics markets. Dynamic Dot Printing (DDP) controls and the Smart Pass 4 (SP4) dot control algorithm enable high-density printing and superior image quality while an advanced media take-up unit makes it easier for us to print heavier banners.

HP Designerjet Z6100 – wide format printer with vivid, durable colour, producing accurate gallery-quality black-and-white and colour prints easily, consistently, and cost-effectively.

IKON Business Pro 650 – colour printing with speed, quality, reliability, cost-efficiency, flexible in-line finishing capabilities, 200-page trimmed booklet-making, and 100-sheet stapling.
