Our label division produces wet glue labels – wrap-around, square cut, punched and tube wrapped – which can, if necessary, be hot foil stamped or embossed. The labels are printed using UV or conventional inks with a gloss or matt varnish and are predominately for the beer, water and food industries. Our customers are household names with brands such as Fentimans, Newcastle Brown, Hobgoblin and Banks Bitter plus we print labels for water companies who bottle own brand water for the major supermarkets.
We recently invested in a new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 – this state of the art 7-colour press was installed over the Christmas break and is now up and running. This investment was a necessity for the business as we continue to expand and the amount of labels and packaging we produce increases because it provides us with maximum productivity combined with top efficiency. The Speedmaster XL 106 has the highest level of automation on the market which is right up our street. Intelligent automation, intuitive operation, top quality print, maximum productivity and cost effectiveness let us provide our customers with the excellent service they deserve. Plus it means we are operating at peak performance as this press delivers 18000 sheets per hour in straight printing.
We also have a B1 Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102-7+L press which is a UV Litho press. This press runs at 16,500 sph on a broad spectrum of substrates from light-weight paper, all plastics and bending resistant cardboard. The CX 102 boasts Prinect Inpress Control an inline measuring and colour control system and contract-free sheet travel with the AirTransfer System.
In the printing industry you can’t stand still, the technology is evolving all the time and we’re looking for perfection on the run,” says our MD, Rod Fisher. “On older presses you can see fluctuations in quality and I have certainly seen variations across labels on supermarket shelves. We want perfect and predictable results.
